All Stars of the Ultimate Unit!

Hello 9's,

This week I am pleased to announce that the all star in 9-3 is Miranda Kohuch. Miranda has been such a bright spot in our class - her laughter and enthusiasm for whatever we are doing is truly inspirational. Thanks Miranda for making PE so much fun!

In 9-4 I'm happy to give all star this week to Alexa Spetz. Alexa was a secret weapon in ultimate games with great catching skills and athleticism. Again, Alexa continues to add to our positve classroom environment with her contributions every day. Both Alexa's and Miranda's names will be added to our ultimate grand prize draw....

This leads us to the Flag Football Unit! Get ready to learn a little bit about football and dress for the September/October weather as we are still going to be outside. Keep up those activity logs and challenge yoruself this week to be more active!

Activity Plan Assignment
Name: __________________

Goal: to analyze and monitor our physical activity over the course of one semester in order to improve our activity level, using frequency, intensity and duration. We want to move more!

What I need to do: daily record the answer to these three questions:
o   The frequency: did I exercise today, if yes what kind of activity did I do? (ex. Soccer practice, walking, rock climbing, swimming, sit-ups, yoga, etc.)
o   The intensity: how hard did my heart work using beats per minute (bpm’s) or the weight in lbs?
o   The duration: how many minutes?

The last thing you need to include is:
o   The date and time!

As a class we will work on the initial goal setting (making SMART goals for our physical activity. SMART means our goals are: specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely!

Please glue or staple this page into the front of your notebook as a reference for your assignment.

*OPTIONAL:
o   You can also include other aspects of your activity time such as how you felt before, after or during or your overall health. Be creative!

Check Point!

Hey Grade 9's!

I am so blessed to be working with such a fantastic group. No offense to the other teachers but I think I got all the Gr. 9 all-stars!

In saying that choosing all-stars of the week proved to be difficult.

In 9-3 I would like to congratulate Andrea Walker as the all-star of the week. She ALWAYS has a smile on her face, she works hard and is always adding to the postive atmosphere of our classroom! Congrats Andrea and keep it up!

In 9-4 I would like to congratulate Matt Zaplachinski. He has stood out as someone who is positve, helpful and needs to be commended as the fastest student in grade 9. Very well done Matt. Both your names will be put in the final draw for a grand prize at the end of the semester.

In saying this, all-stars are up for grabs for the outdoor games unit. I am watching very closely for leadership abilities, positive attitudes, overall improvements and the way you are interacting with your peers!

Keep up the hard work 9's, it is not going unnoticed!
Cali

*ACTIVITY PLAN

Hey 9's,

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you remember to bring the start of your activity plan for next class.

This means that you need to bring one of the two things below:

1. a coil notebook OR 2. a duotang with lined paper inside.

You also much have your fitness challenge sheet either attatched or written inside, as well as your goal setting sheet (colored sheet from the first day) inside.

Any questions? I'm here!

Cali

ALSO: Mod 12's - Louis Lovell and Devon Nielson - you are leading warm up and cool down this Friday. I am looking to see that you have planned something in advance and that the game is well organized. Please plan for a warm-up of under 5 min and if you need anything email me.
